Game Spotlight: Star Wars Trilogy Arcade

We’re checking out the fan-favorite Star Wars Trilogy Arcade game to celebrate Star Wars Day!

Star Wars Trilogy Arcade was developed and produced by SEGA and was released in 1998. It has remained popular, especially in the retro arcade gaming community who look for a blend of fun gameplay and nostalgia.

The game is a rail shooter, meaning the player's movement is handled automatically along a fixed path (much like a theme park ride) allowing the gameplay to focus almost entirely on aiming and firing at targets.

Gamers can explore iconic locations of the original Star Wars trilogy, including battles at Yavin, Hoth, and Endor (they can be played in any order!).

You can fly an x-wing and battle TIE fighters in the fight against the first Death Star, then master a snowspeeder in the race to escape Hoth while battling AT-STs and AT-ATs. Finally, the speeder bikes on Endor provides a fitting adventure for those looking to battle the Empire, and the game culminates in a climactic final level battling the second Death Star from the inside and outside.

There are two bonus levels featuring Luke Skywalker: a battle against Boba Fett and a duel with Darth Vader.

The game has been at Decades—retro arcade, restaurant, bowling alley, bar, and seasonal ice cream shop in Lancaster, PA—since 2023 and has been a favorite of the many guests looking for throwback fun and retro amusement.
